South Goa is further divided into five divisions – Ponda, Mormugao (Vasco da Gama), Margao, Quepem, and Dharbandora, and seven taluks – Ponda, Mormugao, Salcete, Quepem, and Canacona, Sanguem, and Dharbandora. (Ponda Taluka shifted from North Goa to South Goa in January 2015).

The major cities of Goa: Panaji, Margao, Vasco da Gama, Mapusa, Ponda, and Valpoi. There is only one municipal corporation in Goa which is in Panaji.
