Bikaner is the popular city in the northwest of the state of Rajasthan, India. It is situated 330 km of the state capital, Jaipur. Bikaner is an administrative headquarter of Bikaner district. Bikaner city was founded by Rao Bika in 1486. The city celebrates its foundation day on "Akshay Tritiya" by flying kites and eating special Rajasthani food. The celebration runs for two days 1st day is Chhoti Akha Teej and 2nd is Badi Akha Teej.
This city was established by Rao Bika in 1488. Rao Bika was the first son of Maharaja Rao Jodha of the Rathore Clan. Because of the first son of Jodha he wanted to build his own kingdom, not inheriting Jodhpur from his father. Now, the city name is Bikaner which he built his own kingdom in the area of Jangladesh. After the hundred years later a new fort was built about 1.5 km from the city, the name of this fort is Junagarh Fort.
